Floating Cabins on Powell Lake works in conjunction with Powell River Outdoors Inc (Powell River's top fishing and outdoor shop). Their experience and knowledgeable guides have proven some of the greatest catches on Powell Lake.
Powell Lake offers some great trout fishing, not to mention great scenery. When you are planning to stay at one of our floating cabins, definitely include trout fishing in your plans. By doing so you will have a chance of landing some of the largest Cutthroat trout in BC.
The main species in Powell Lake are Cutthroat trout ranging from 10 inches to well over 10 pounds! Although to get into the double digits takes some knowledge of the area. Our licensed guides can get you to the hot spots on the lake, and ensure your time spent fishing is in productive waters. Our guides can also take you into Goat Lake, a tributary of Powell Lake. Goat Lake holds 3 species of trout, Cutthroat, Rainbow and the awesome Cuttbow (mix between Cutthroat and Rainbow). From Goat Lake you can also access the Eldred River and try some river fishing.

Methods:
Fly Fishing is a very productive method in Powell Lake, and there has been some local patterns developed specifically for these waters. Six-Seven weight flyrods are ideal for fishing Powell Lake, while fly lines consist of mainly full sink type 4-5 and also a dry line for some of the dry action.
Trolling is also a very popular method on Powell Lake, with the key being in finding the proper depth in which the fish are holding. There are a few trolls used locally that are very productive. Our guides can provide them or they can be purchased at Powell River Outdoors Inc.
Spin Casting is often the best method in front of one of the many creeks which flow into Powell Lake or just off the deck of your Floating Cabin.
Fishing season on the lake is April 1-October 31.
